As the next generation representative of the Murchison family, J.D. Murchison joined the Company’s management team in 2011. Mr. Murchison has over 8 years of experience in finance and investments. From 2007 to 2011, Mr. Murchison worked for Banco Banif, the private banking arm of Banco Santander in Madrid, Spain. Between 2003 and 2007, he held various progressive positions at Schroders Investment Management and Citigroup Private Banking.
Mr. Murchison holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the CIS University of Madrid. He is fluent in Spanish, and is a CFA level 2 candidate
MICHAEL THOMANNChief Financial Officer
Mr. Thomann joined Murchison Oil and Gas in October 2015. He brings 10 years of experience in corporate finance and strategy. Prior to joining Murchison, Mr. Thomann spent two years with Commercial Metals Company where he advised senior management on corporate strategy including M&A activity, organic growth initiatives, supply chain efficiency, and capital allocation. From 2010 to 2013, Mike worked for Deloitte Financial Advisory Services where he provided a wide-range of consulting services including mergers and acquisitions, taxation planning, financial reporting, litigation and dispute resolution, bankruptcy, and strategic planning. Mr. Thomann started his career with the Bank of New York Mellon where he managed investment portfolios for high net worth individuals, trusts, and foundations.
Mr. Thomann holds a BBA in Finance from Southern Methodist University and is a CFA charterholder.
RUSTY COOPERVice President of Operations
Rusty Cooper joined Murchison Oil and Gas, Inc. in August 2013, and brings approximately 35 years of varied operations experience with emphasis on drilling, completions, and workovers to the Company. Throughout his career, Mr. Cooper has worked in various domestic locations including the Mid-Continent, Rocky Mountains, East and South Texas, Onshore and Offshore Gulf Coast, and the Alaska North Slope. Rusty has also worked in various international locations including Western Canada, Offshore Africa, and China. Prior to joining Murchison Oil & Gas, Inc., Rusty served as the Drilling and Completions Manager in charge of a large horizontal project in the Permian Basin.
Rusty graduated in 1979 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering from Texas Tech University. He currently resides in Flower Mound, Texas and doesn’t mind going hunting occasionally.
Sana Hines joined Murchison Oil and Gas in 2015 as Controller bringing 11 years of progressive experiences in accounting and audit in various industries including the energy sector. More recently, Ms. Hines served as AVP & Director of Internal Audit at a mid-cap public E&P Company in Dallas, TX. Ms. Hines has served in a variety of roles and experiences in: diverse corporate accounting functions, financial statement audits, establishing control framework, responsible for successful remediation of deficiencies, led process improvement projects, and performed due diligence reviews on acquisitions and divestiture settlements.
Ms. Hines holds a Bachelors of Science in Accounting and Bachelors of Science in Finance from the University of Missouri Saint Louis and is a certified public accountant.
Eric BuddenbohnLand Manager
Eric Buddenbohn joined Murchison Oil & Gas, Inc. in October 2016, bringing significant industry experience across multiple domestic basins to the company. Mr. Buddenbohn has experience working in Texas, New Mexico, Louisiana, Ohio and Pennsylvania.
Mr. Buddenbohn holds a Bachelors of Business Administration degree in Energy Commerce from Texas Tech University and is a Certified Professional Landman. He is also actively involved in the American Association of Professional Landmen, the Dallas Association of Petroleum Landmen, the Fort Worth Association of Professional Landmen, and the Permian Basin Landmen’s Association.
Charles WardSenior Geologist
Charles A. Ward III joined Murchison Oil and Gas, Inc. in October of 2013 as a Geologist, and brings over 6 years of oil and gas experience within the Permian Basin. He began his career as a geologic core analyst with Core Laboratories, Inc. in the core description, saturation, and rock properties labs. During his tenure at Core Laboratories, he described and analyzed over 30,000 feet of core from both conventional and unconventional plays, worldwide. While working at Murchison Oil and Gas, Inc. Charles has identified, evaluated, and implemented projects throughout both the Midland and Delaware Basins.
Charles holds a Master’s of Science in Geology from University of Texas of the Permian Basin with a focus on oil and gas exploitation within the Permian Basin, and a Bachelor of Science in Geology from Texas Tech University.
